The Garden Pictorial

lillesley barn, suffolk

a beautiful garden of two halves

Inspired by the gardening principles of Beth Chatto, garden owner Bridget decided to create a wonderful dry gravel garden around the front of their house, concentrating on those plants that will tolerate the dry, drought conditions that we have started to experience more, and also welcoming the tenacious self seeded plants.

Entering through a gate at the side of the house, the second half of the garden beckons you in, with a steeply sloping herbaceous border, and a red brick seating area. A summer house overlooks the lawn and is surrounded by one of Bridget’s favourites, her enchanting collection of dahlias.
