slack top alpines Nursery & garden

A place where alpines will flourish

A nursery situated on a north facing slope 900ft above sea level, just outside Hebden Bridge, where temperatures can drop below -16°C would spell disaster for most plants. But not, of course, if you are growing alpines. Started in 1980, nursery owners Michael & Allison Mitchell are passionate about the tough alpine plants that flourish in their Yorkshire garden, with their motto being “If it’ll grow up here, it’ll grow anywhere!”
